Happy Friday darlings. Finally the clouds have cleared and we get to enjoy some sunshine and warmth after what seemed like an eternity of waiting. Today I want to share with you some of my favorite motherhood quotes.

Pregnancy and motherhood are the most beautiful and life changing events that I have ever experienced. My life took a complete turn for the best the day I found out I was going to become a mother and has significantly changed all aspects of my life.

Being a young mother, mot of my friends and family members thought having a baby would stop me from living, pursuing my career and achieving my dreams. However, that did not stop me instead it fuelled my desire to do and be better for the sake of Naya. My life changed for the better and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Whether your pregnancy was meticulously planned, medically coaxed, or happened by surprise, one thing is certain- your life will never be the same”

Catherine Jones

I have many times witnessed people on social media tear down a fellow mother just because the parenting methods she has chosen to follow are not ‘right’. Which makes me wonder what is wrong and right when it comes to parenting, afterall these babies don’t come with a manual.

My candid advice, when it comes to motherhood, find your own way and find out what works for you and your family. PS; Never judge another mother just because they chose to raise their kids a certain way, there is no right or wrong way to be a mother, just do your best the best way you know how.

I always strive to be the kind of mom that Naya will look back on and be proud of in future. Our children need more of our presence than presents, a parent who gets down on the floor and plays with them, a parent who invests time in them.

Motherhood is not a hobby, its a calling and everyday we make the choice to put the happiness and well-being of our little ones ahead of our own.  Motherhood is the most difficult yet most rewarding job on this planet, getting paid back with hugs, kisses and the purest of love. It is the epitome of just how self-less, loving and caring one human being can be.

As I said earlier there is no way to be a perfect mother and on most days you will feel like you are doing it all wrong but worry not. The very fact that you worry about being a good mother means that you are already one and to your children, that’s all that matters. To them you will always be a SUPERMOM.

Being a mother simply means having your heart wandering wherever your children go. Motherhood is literally where love begins and ends, there is no greater love than what a mother feels the minute they lay their eyes on the little being they have been carrying in their womb for 9months. Personally, I never knew the kind of love I have for my little one ever existed, its a feeling I can never explain even with a million words.

A parent is and will always be their children’s first teacher and most of what they learn from you is not by listening but by watching. Be sure your actions instill good values in them and mould them to be who you want them to be.

“Don’t worry that children don’t listen to you, worry that they watch what you do”

Robert Fulghum

“Men are what their mothers made them”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Motherhood is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in, it is what God gave you time for. There is no role in life more essential and eternal than that of motherhood. Our children are our ultimate priority in life and every decision you make as a parent will affect them in one way or another. They come into our lives and become the center of our universe as we know it.

The best gift we can give our children is our presence and investing our time in them. It’s not enough to jut love your children, show them with your actions and make sure they know they are loved. Spend as much time as you can with your children lest they grow up while you are not looking and regret not being part of their lives while they were younger.

Last but not least, always remember that motherhood is not about what you gave up to have a child/children but what you gained from having them in your life.

“Babies are bits of star-dust blown from the hand of God. Lucky the woman who knows the pangs of birth for she has held a star”

Larry Barretto
